Newcomer Supply PAP Pen Liquid Blocker, hydrophobic slide markers for staining procedures, creates a visible hydrophobic barrier that provides proper surface tension to hold reagents within a targeted area when applied around tissue sections or smears on a microscopic slide. This surface tension ensures the amount of reagent needed for sufficient reaction is reduced and retained for complete tissue section coverage. Multiple specimens can be separated by drawn circles or lines applied to the same slide. PAP Pen Liquid Blockers contain a unique formulation that is water repellent, insoluble in alcohol and acetone, soluble in xylene and temperature resistant up to 120°C. Also available in PAP Pen Liquid Blocker which provides a wider pen tip for drawing a wider barrier film.

This product is ideal for Stat, routine or back-up staining. Volu-Sol has developed the proprietary mixture Stat Stain to rapidly stain blood smear (10-15 seconds) and bone marrow (20-30 seconds). Our unique manufacturing process generates finely dispersed stain particles which yield excellent color intensity and morphological differentiation. This stain eliminates many of the steps involved in the Wright-Giemsa staining procedure; it includes the buffer within the stain, allowing use of deionized or distilled water as a buffer and rinse. Procedure step elimination and shortened staining times make "manual methods" faster than "automated" systems, requiring very little technologist time. Blood smears take less than a minute from start to finish with distilled or deionized water as a suitable buffer and rinse. This product is available in both Wright-Giemsa (Stat Stain) and Wright's (Statim Stain) formulations.
